Asian markets in Red. Nifty may start with caution

Asian equity markets kicked off the week lower, after a weaker-than-expected US non-farm payrolls report triggered heavy losses in Wall Street shares at the end of last week.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.61 percent or 138.08 points at 22,372. Japan's Nikkei shed 1.45 percent or 218.34 points at 14,845.43. Singapore's Straits Times declined 0.18 percent or 5.78 points at 3,206.94.  South Korea's Seoul Composite fell 0.10 percent or 1.95 points at 1,986.14. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted was down 0.53 percent or 47.41 points at 8,841.13. Shanghai Composite shut today.
